Q3 2018 was an exciting time for us, with lot of new releases. We're particularly proud of editable, internal and external forms, as we think this has the potential to revolutionize the way you use the Jira Service Desk portal.
- Internal / External Forms
We implemented the ability to designate forms as internal (accessible on the Jira issue only) or external (accessible on the Jira and the JSD portal). This means you can include more than one form per request on the portal, making it easy to gather follow-up information. You can change the form setting between internal and external whenever you wish, giving you the option to include internal tracking forms and then make them available to customers when the service is complete.
- Edit Forms from the Portal
Change happens, errors occur, people forget to double-check before hitting submit. Now you can make changes and correct mistakes on ProForma forms from the JSD portal. Service agents won't have to comb through comment chains searching for the updated information. Instead, they'll find it where they naturally look - in the fields of the original request.
- Dynamic fields
ProForma forms now respond dynamically to user input. You can use conditional logic to show or hide form sections depending on the response to a previous question. This is a great way to include all of the fields you need without overwhelming users with questions you don’t need.
- Effective Jira Administration - the Book
Over the past year, we've been collaborating with Rachel Wright, author of the Jira Strategy Admin Workbook, on a series of articles which offer tips and advice to help you create and maintain a clean, manageable, high-performing Jira instance. You can access all of those articles at once by downloading our eBook - Effective Jira Administration.
- Summit Barcelona
Members of the ThinkTilt team traveled to beautiful Barcelona for Atlassian Summit 2018. It was a great opportunity to show off our new functionality, hear about customer's needs and hear about Atalssian's' plans. We're looking forward to doing it all again in Las Vegas.
- ProForma Lite
While at Summit, we released ProForma Lite, a limited version of ProForma that you can install and use for free. ProForma Lite includes all of ProForma features and lets you create up to 3 forms without subscribing to ProForma or purchasing a ProForma license.
ThinkTilt would like to thank you for all the suggestions and feedback you've provided. Our goal is to develop a product that serves your needs, so please continue to provide feature suggestions. Based on your input, we've prioritized the following items for the final quarter of 2018:
- Jira Issue Creator
Many of our customers have requested the ability to create a Jira issue from a ProForma form. So we'll be releasing the Form Issue Creator which will users to access ProForma forms from the Jira navigation bar. When the user completes and submits the form, a Jira issue will be created.
- ProForma Confluence App
We're also keen to finish development of our ProForma Confluence app which will allow you to embed ProForma forms in a Confluence page. Users will be able to open and fill out the form within Confluence. When the form is submitted, it will automatically create a Jira issue. If you have a use case around updating Jira issues, or creating Jira issues from Confluence, we'd love to hear from you.
- Workflow Automation
Another priority is adding the capacity to integrate ProForma with your workflows. You'll be able to automatically add a form to an issue upon transitioning the issue to a new status. Similarly, we're adding the ability to automatically transition an issue when a form is submitted. Again, we'd love to hear your suggestions and use cases.
- Pull External Data for Lookup Questions
Several customer asked about populating form choice lists with data from an external source. We'll be implementing this feature so the form builder can pull external data from REST APIs or from Riada Insight.
- Support for Jira Data Center
We'll be testing ProForma with large data sets to ensure it can perform at scale for enterprise customers. Our aim is to ensure that we can support ProForma for data center by the end of the year.
- Help with Custom Field Bloat
Our content for the next quarter will focus on helping you reduce your custom fields to a manageable level. Customers at Summit told us they are wrestling with literally thousands of custom fields. ProForma is a great option for getting custom data without creating custom fields, but you still need deal with the custom fields you already have. We'll be sharing tips for auditing, eliminating and replacing custom fields - without sacrificing the data.
Thanks for following our quarterly updates. We're happy to have you with us as we grow and develop ProForma. Please feel free to contact us if you have any comments or suggestions.
