ProForma Forms & Checklists for Jira

Wow, the first quarter flew by.  We’re pleased to have begun 2019 by adding exciting new functionality to ProForma. Here's a rundown of what we've been working on:

  • Form Automation
You’ve been asking for form automation and I’m happy to announce that it’s here! You can now create automation rules that integrate ProForma forms with your Jira workflows. This is a great way to make work more streamlined, to save time for your agents, and to build compliance into your processes. Create rules to automatically add ProForma forms to issues, automatically transition an issue when a form is submitted, or prevent an issue from being transitioned if a form(s) is missing or incomplete.

  • Summit
We packed up our Vegemite and our newly released form automation functionality and headed to Las Vegas for Atlassian Summit 2019. There was a lot of interest in Enterprise Service Management and we were pleased to be highlighted in Atlassian Senior Product Manager, Vincent Wong's, presentation, Beyond IT: How to Use Jira Service Desk for Non-technical Teams and to have one of our customers featured in Atlassian Senior Product Manager, Amaresh Ray's Power Up Jira Service Desk with Apps.      you can leverage JSD across your entire organization.

On the technical side, our own Charles Gutjahr presented Shipping to Cloud, Server and Data Center with a Single Build Pipeline at Summit Developer Day.

  • Battling Custom Field Bloat
ProForma is a great way to collect structured, process-specific data without needing Jira custom fields.  For those of you who already have too many custom fields to deal with, we partnered with author, teacher and Jira super-user, Rachel Wright, to create a new eBook on Battling Custom Field Bloat. • ProForma for Jira Data Center
After testing ProForma on large data sets and making the necessary adjustments, we submitted our application for Data Center approval. We're eagerly awaiting Atlassian's response and expect to be making ProForma available to those of you with enterprise-scale Jira instances within the quarter.

We’ll continue to work on some much-requested features. As always, your suggestions, use cases and feedback is welcomeKeep an eye out for these improvements in the upcoming months:

  • Data Center Release
We will make any final changes necessary to get the data center version of ProForma shipped.

  • Pull External Data for Lookup Questions
We've heard that you would like to populate form choice lists with data from external sources and we'll be adding this feature this quarter. You'll soon be able to pull external data from REST APIs or from Riada Insight.

  • More Form Publishing Options
We’re investigating ways to make it possible for people to publish any Issue Form
(forms used to create Jira issues) to Confluence pages and other webpages. This will allow you to expand the ways users can create Jira issues, while ensuring each new issue is created with all of the data you need.

  • Form System Improvements
Our backlog includes a number of small improvements (new question types, etc.) to the form builder. During the next few months, we’ll be reworking our UI code so that we’ll be able to expedite the release of new features on the form builder.

Thanks you for following our quarterly updates. Our goal is to develop a product that serves your needs, so please keep those feature suggestions coming.
